Area Events to Support Charities

Many of the charities supported by the United Protestant Church hold their own fundraisers such as galas, races and golf events.

Northern Illinois Food Bank Proceeds help feed area residents in need.

The 20th Annual Hunger Scramble Golf Outing, presented by West Suburban Bank, was held on August 21, 2018 at the Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton.

Fashion Show Luncheon and Auction:

November 10th, 2018

The 2018 Fashion Show Luncheon and Auction will take place on Saturday, November 10th from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Italian Conference Center in Milwaukee.  This is going to be a fabulous event with special key-note speaker Dr. Richard Kakuwa (EHC National Director in Zambia) and you don’t want to miss it! Tables and seats are limited, so be sure to act fast and get yours right away.  We hope to see you there!

Event Sponsorships:  Sponsorships are available now for this year’s event. Invitations will be printed soon and we’d love to add your name to the cover as our Gold Sponsor. As an event sponsor, your name or business will be recognized through printed material, social media, company signage and verbally honored at our event. Auction items:  We are extremely grateful for those who donate items to our silent auction! Fun packages like weekend get-aways and vacations, gift baskets, sports tickets and suites are all great items for guests to bid on.  We also appreciate creative ideas for services, items or ‘experiences’ (ie: boat tours or gourmet dinners) as donations. Your business and item will be listed in our fashion show event program and we will acknowledge your tax-deductible donation after the event for tax purposes.

Kendra Scott Give Back Event Benefiting the Sports Shed

Please join us for champagne and treats at the new Kendra Scott store in Old Orchard.  20% of the evening’s sales will go to the Sports Shed.


Grayslake Lions Club Annual

Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament:  The Grayslake Lions host an annual poker tournament at Shooters Sports Bar & Billiards at 1858 E. Belvidere Road (Routes 120 and 45) in Grayslake. Tournament starts in September and is held on the first Sunday of the month from September through December. Dates for 2018 are tentatively set for:  September 2, October 7, November 4, and December 2.

All proceeds support the Lions mission. We serve to improve communities locally and throughout the world. Locally, our fundraising assists visually and hearing challenged individuals, as well as, multiple other organizations, such as:  Avon Food Pantry, P.A.D.S., Lions Project for Canine Companions, Grayslake Oasis, Help Them To Hear Foundation and Grayslake Shop With a Cop. We also provide two scholarships for college-bound seniors at the Grayslake High Schools.


Project Linus

Project Linus will be holding a Sit ‘N Stitch at the Gurnee McDonalds on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10am to 12pm. Upcoming dates include:  09/05, 09/19, 10/03, 10/17.  The address is 6380 Grand Ave., Gurnee.  Join us for a morning of blanket making for Linus! (fleece and yarn exchange on 3rd Wednesday only)  Contact Beth Leffelman at with any questions.

Also, Blanket Day will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 9am to 1:30pm at 1133 Pfingsten Rd., Northbrook. It will be a day of fun and blanket making at the Gloria Dei Church. Bring your current project and a bag lunch. Drinks and treats are provided.  RSVP to Judi at 847-498-3987 or
