Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry

Our goal is to inspire faith and fellowship among the youth of United Protestant Church through activities such as service projects, fellowship events and mission trips. All youth, fifth through twelfth grade, are given opportunities throughout the year to serve both the UPC community and the community outside our church.

Operation Christmas Child

The UPC Youth recently took ownership of an incredible mission project: Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is an international Christmas project that uses gift-filled shoeboxes to show God’s love to children in need from around the world. UPC has supported this ministry for many years. Youth collect donations, coordinate the all-church packing day and share stories about the impact of OCC.

Annual Summer Mission Trip

All middle school and high school students (currently in sixth through twelfth grade) are invited to journey with UPC youth and adult leaders to help community in need. Activities typically include painting, building, caring for children and visiting senior members. Signing up for the mission trip usually happens in the fall, with winter and spring months devoted to fundraising and team building. Our next mission trip will be June 10-15, 2018, to Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina! See Rose Craig Tyler for details.

Sunday School: 9:00 AM

Fifth and sixth grade: These students are part of the Foundations of the Faith. Exploring the Foundational elements of our Christian Faith.

Seventh and eighth grade

Our Christian education program for this age group is a two-year confirmation program. We’ll work with families on special circumstances, like sharing weekends with more-distant parents, etc. At the end of the school year, all eighth graders who have completed their requirements will be invited to be confirmed during a worship service in late spring.

Confirmation is held from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday evenings at the church.

Ninth through Twelfth Grades: High School

Information regarding opportunities for our High School students will be provided soon.
